REMEMBERING COURTNEY BROUSSEAU
The ASUC Student Union staff and Board of Directors wishes to pay tribute to Courtney Brousseau, who tragically passed away on May 3rd, 2020. Courtney served as a student leader in both the ASUC and the ASUC Student Union at UC Berkeley. He was passionate about improving the UC Berkeley campus and was a tireless advocate for students.
In his two-year tenure as Chair of the Student Union Board of Directors, Courtney left an immeasurable impact on others. He worked extremely hard to realize a vision of the Student Union as a welcoming home for all members of the UC Berkeley community. As Chair, Courtney endeavoured to revitalize the Student Union’s facilities and services, place the organization on firmer financial footing, and create a more transparent and efficient Board. He was dedicated to the principles of shared governance and always sought to ensure that students’ voices would be heard in the administration of the Student Union.
In addition to his role on the Board, Courtney left his mark on numerous communities and organizations on campus. Courtney was an integral leader in the ASUC, where he served as Chief Communications Officer and Project Manager for Berkeley Mobile in the ASUC Office of the Chief Technology Officer. He also served as a GBO Orientation Leader, among many other roles.
Above all, Courtney was a kind and compassionate person who was always willing to lend a helping hand: someone whose dedication, spirit and belief in progress inspired us all. His future was bright and full of possibilities. Courtney will be dearly missed.
If you would like to learn more about Courtney’s life, support the causes that he was passionate about, and share your memories of Courtney and thoughts, please see this memorial website.
